Scotland fans weren’t happy last night, despite their side winning 2-1 away at the Czech Republic and moving to the top of their Nations League group.

The issue was that they were up against a makeshift side with nine debutants after a COVID-19 crisis in the Czech Republic squad.

Scotland made hard work of the home side and went a goal down before securing the points with a Ryan Christie penalty in the 52nd minute.

Liam Cooper won his third cap and played 90 minutes but left Scotland fans torn by his performance.

To be fair to Cooper, it was hard to find any positive remarks from Scotland fans after the game.

And we think he actually had a good game. It wasn’t just us, either. The Scottish Sun gave him a 7/10 rating and said, “Just his third cap and he was sound as the left centre-half of three. Happy to take the ball, composed, strong on deck and in air. Fine third cap.”

That sounds like our captain and he got a higher rating than Liverpool’s Andy Robertson who was given 6/10.

One big issue for Cooper is that he was playing alongside Man United midfielder Scott McTominay, drafted in as a makeshift centre-back.

He was to blame for the Czech Republic goal and Cooper was never going to look at his best with McTominay next to him.

However, while Cooper was criticised by some Scotland fans, others were more complimentary with one saying he was one of just two players who deserved a pass on the night.

Here are the Scotland fans who savaged Cooper…

However, some fans took a more balanced view of Cooper’s performance, although one was also a Leeds fan.

We think Cooper can hold his head high after his display and we agree with these fans…
