Sky Sports pundit takes aim at Jack Harrison after what he did in Leeds United v Fulham

Andy Walker wasn’t happy with Jack Harrison’s involvement in the Leeds goal during the first half of their clash with Fulham on Sunday [23 October].

The Whites took the lead on the 20 minute mark thanks to a Rodrigo header, after Harrison’s strike had deflected up into the air off a defender’s boot.

Sky Sports pundit Walker was speaking on commentary on CNBC [23 October, 14:20] for the game, and thought Harrison got lucky because his initial attempt on goal was “poor” and it seemed as though the chance was already gone at that point.

“Well you thought the chance was gone once Jack Harrison gets in behind here and he puts it on his left,” he said.

“It’s a poor attempt at goal. But when it fires up in the air there’s the man who takes advantage.

“Look at Harrison here, he’s got to take it with his right foot. It’s a good block in the end from Tim Ream, but he’s in the perfect position Rodrigo, just to make the vital breakthrough for Leeds following up.

“Gets himself away from Tosin and gets it with a simple header into the back of the net.

“Great start for Leeds.”

It’s fair to say that Harrison should have done better with the chance he had initially, because he takes a pretty poor touch and is then stretching for it on his stronger foot instead of just placing the ball.

But the fact it led to a goal means it should be a non-story and Walker was harsh to have such a big go at him for it in the context of what actually happened.

Harrison was okay during the game with great energy and touches in his more central position and was a big part of a lot of the good things the team did in Sunday’s game despite the result.

He’s not perfect though and he will learn that in those instances maybe he should do things differently to be able to score the goal himself or give the team a better opportunity of scoring.

Ultimately he got lucky on this occasion and criticism is fair, but maybe Walker was a little bit harsh with what he said about the Leeds man.

In other Leeds news, pundit was furious with this ace’s “weak” defending against Fulham
