‘Shocking’, ‘Disgrace’ – These Leeds fans ‘fuming’ after Phil Hay tweet on Whites

Leeds United were presented with the Championship trophy last night after a long and twisted season.

However, some Leeds fans were not happy after watching the celebrations unfold outside Elland Road afterwards.

Fans had been told to stay away by the club but as many did as they were told and watched on TV, many others who ignored the advice were treated to the sight of players celebrating themselves in an open-top bus.

Atheltic journalist Phil Hay tweeted some of the images and it left the stay-at-home fans absolutely fuming.

You can see their point. It’s almost as if the fans at home were getting punished by the club for doing the right thing, while those who had gone against the advice of the local authorities and Leeds were getting treated.

Leeds were forced to release a statement saying that they’d done it to try to disperse the crowds and had consulted with the authorities.

Ultimately, we think, Leeds were damned if they did, damned if they didn’t.

It’s a tragedy that fans couldn’t be there as the past week has unfolded. However, it was inevitable that fans would turn up again last night and Leeds decided this was the best course of action to take.

It’s tough on the fans that stayed at home but it shouldn’t take the gloss off what has been an absolutely incredible achievement.

And fans will no doubt get a proper open-bus celebration through the city when it’s safe to do it.

However, it did upset a lot of fans – here are their reactions to the events unfolding last night…
