Richard Keys shares Leeds United relegation verdict after Premier League developments
Leeds United have dropped back into the relegation zone after they lost 2-1 away at Arsenal on Sunday while Everton won at Leicester.
Jesse Marsch now has just three games to save the Whites from returning to the Championship with it looking like a straight shoot-out between them and Burnley.
Richard Keys has pointed out that it’s not good timing for United to be in the bottom three.
“It’s the wrong time of the season for that to happen.
“Burnley [were] beaten yesterday by Villa, down from 16th as a result, a position now taken by Everton, who have won two on the bounce.”
Odds stacked against us
Leeds are bound to be the favourites to get relegated now.
Burnley’s remaining three fixtures are just as difficult as Leeds’ but while they lost to Aston Villa on Saturday, they’re still in marginally better form.
And let’s face it, their players have been in this position before whereas you cannot really say that about anyone at Leeds.
Luke Ayling’s red card at the Emirates on Sunday was as ridiculous as it gets because it now means we have no recognised right-back for the final three games of the season.
Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts are also out of the last games while Patrick Bamford won’t be anywhere near back to his best in time to see out the season.
Leeds are in a real crisis situation and while we’re not going to be sat around calling for Marsch to be sacked, it seems unlikely the American is going to be unable to pull his side out of the lurch.
