Premier League make announcement on controversial Leeds vs Aston Villa incident
Leeds United opened the scoring against Aston Villa on Sunday thanks to Lukas Nmecha, but it came in controversial fashion.
It was a massive game at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke under heavy pressure at Leeds.
Going into the match, the Peacocks were in the relegation zone after Nottingham Forest’s win on Saturday.
Therefore, with Leeds facing a tough upcoming fixture list, it was vital that Farke’s side picked up three points.
However, despite the fantastic start at Elland Road against Aston Villa, Nmecha’s goal came in controversial fashion.

VAR confirm no offence was made in the build-up to Lukas Nmecha’s goal
Leeds’ opener against Aston Villa was certainly odd.
A whipped free-kick caused chaos inside Villa’s box. Goalkeeper Emi Martinez attempted to gather the goal but spilled it under pressure from Anton Stach.
From here, Ezri Konsa attempted to clear the ball, but it smashed off Nmecha and into the net.
However, the goal was not confirmed for another three and a half minutes, with VAR checking multiple offences from offside to a potential foul on Martinez.

Now, the Premier League Match Centre has confirmed via X on 23 November that there was no offside in the build-up, nor was there a foul on Martinez by Stach.
Leeds United continue to start brightly
Despite Leeds’ poor fortunes this season, they have continued to start brightly in many of their matches.
This was the fourth time this season that the Peacocks had scored within the first 15 minutes in the Premier League, an impressive feat.
Now, the task for Leeds and Farke is to ensure that they are able to continue this throughout 90 minutes.
If the Peacocks play like they did against Aston Villa in the first half throughout the season, fears of relegation will become a distant memory.
Hopefully, Leeds will be able to take confidence from the performance and continue to push up the table.
