Predicted Leeds United XI v Watford: Joe Gelhardt starts

Leeds United should make three changes against Watford from the side that drew 1-1 against Southampton on Saturday (April 2).

With Kalvin Phillips not ready to start that one, it made sense to bring him off the bench.

However, Jesse Marsch admitted he’s in contention to start against the Hornets and we reckon that he should be named in the 11 for that game.

Mateusz Klich disappointed in the Saints draw and we see the Pole making way for the Englishman.

Defensively, fan favourite Luke Ayling picked up a slight injury and had the physios called on.

Moments later, he was withdrawn and we see him sitting this one out.

In his place, Marsch could turn to the returning Jamie Shackleton to play instead of him.

The 22-year-old has returned to training and it could be time for him to start another league game.

Stuart Dallas will probably not move to right-back as there will be nobody else to cover for him at left-back

Moving forward, we do not see the experiment of Dan James continuing any longer.

The Wales international struggled against Southampton again and was taken off for Joe Gelhardt.

This could be the ideal game for the teenager to start, given the fact that Watford are likely to play a low block and he will have to find spaces in and around the penalty area to have a sight at goal.

He is much more clinical than the Welshman as well so this is a change that makes a lot of sense.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
