Pitch invader hauled off by stewards in Leeds United win v Crewe
Leeds United saw their 3-0 win against Crewe in the Carabao Cup interrupted by a pitch invader at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
In the first half, a woman took to the pitch and had to be escorted away by stewards.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, she was “intent on staying put” on Leeds’ new pitch at Elland Road before eventually being taken away.
A video clip emerged on Twitter of the stewards dealing with the pitch invader as the match continued without stoppage.
What an idiot
How long have Leeds fans had to wait to be able to start packing out Elland Road again?
We missed the promotion and Championship title win and we missed almost all of our debut season back in the Premier League with just a few lucky fans getting to see the win over West Brom on the final day.
Leeds fans packed Elland Road for the draw with Everton on Saturday and did so again against Crewe on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup.
It’s the first time in around a year and a half since a full Elland Road witnessed Leeds winning a match.
But one idiot is now likely to have gotten herself banned for a long time.
She’s bound to be regretting her actions now but that’s one person who won’t be having to apply for tickets anymore, increasing the chances of the rest of us getting into Elland Road this season.
Leeds fans are brilliant – the best in the country.
But let’s avoid stupid things like this. Luckily it didn’t have an impact on the match but if people start to get a bit too daring at football matches, it could lead to the club getting in trouble.
