Phil Hay shares why Raphinha was taken off during Leeds United v Chelsea
Leeds United brought off Raphinha as a precaution after he was seen signalling to the bench in the second half of the 3-2 Chelsea loss, according to Phil Hay.
With the game in the balance, it was a surprise to see the Brazilian being taken off.
There were concerns that it could be an injury, but Hay believes that Leeds were only protecting him.

In the comments section of his recent post on The Athletic, Hay wrote, “It looked like they were protecting him, yes.
“He seemed to be signalling about how much he had left around the time of the Gelhardt sub. Not to say he’s injured but they were looking after him I think.”
Relief
The last thing Leeds needed at this time is another injury crisis.
When it seemed like everyone was back to full fitness, Liam Cooper picked up an injury and Kalvin Phillips followed him on the sidelines.
Patrick Bamford, who scored an equaliser against Brentford, injured himself while celebrating the goal.

Had Raphinha been injured too, Leeds could write off the Manchester City game on Tuesday as a loss.
However, with him in the side, they still have a chance of taking the game to the Citizens and causing a few upsets against the defending champions.
Hopefully, Marcelo Bielsa rules him fit for this one as it goes without saying how important he is to the Leeds United cause.
