Alan Shearer slams Leeds United duo Raphinha and Mateusz Klich

Alan Shearer was not impressed with the challenges Leeds United duo Raphinha and Mateusz Klich made to give away penalties against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Brazilian slid in to win the ball from Antonio Rudiger while the Pole was caught ball watching and made contact with the German’s leg while trying to clear the ball.

Leeds ended up losing the game 3-2 as Jorginho scored both the penalties that were awarded to the Blues.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, Shearer said, “They [Leeds] should have got something out of it, but for two stupid challenges (from Klich and Raphinha), I thought their play was bright and energetic.”

Disappointing

Having watched the Raphinha incident at least ten times, we’re still unsure why the referee pointed to the spot.

It is a contact sport and there was only minimal contact this time and he seemed to have won the ball.

It’s not like Rudiger was one one-on-one with the keeper and the Brazilian slid in from behind.

The other one seemed a bit silly and we’re not sure why Klich would even do that.

He was in the penalty area and knew that the players are going to go down with even the slightest of contact.

What he did was almost kick the back of Rudiger’s legs rather than make contact with the ball.

Not the best of games from him and he would be fuming when he watches the replay of it.
