Patrick Bamford ruled out of Leeds United clash v West Ham
Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Patrick Bamford will not be available to play for Leeds United against West Ham on Sunday.
Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of Leeds’ trip to the London Stadium, Bielsa revealed that Bamford, 28, is still short of match fitness.
Mirror journalist David Anderson reported on Tuesday that Bamford, as well as Rodrigo, should both be fit to play against West Ham.
However, as shown on Leeds’ Twitter account on Friday, Bielsa said Bamford will not be in the team at West Ham.
“No, [Bamford] hasn’t had a setback, he’s still evolving. His recovery still hasn’t been finalised,” said the Leeds manager.
Leeds United have the chance to gain a bit of momentum in the Premier League when they return to the London Stadium this weekend.
Last time out in the Premier League, the Whites were superb as they beat Burnley 3-1 at Elland Road.
Even though we lost last weekend in the FA Cup, it was with a weakened squad that featured a couple of young debutants and also had a load of players out injured.
Leeds were also hard-done-by when West Ham were awarded a very controversial opening goal in the first half.
We played very well considering the fact David Moyes’ squad was a strong one so there’s every motivation to be able to go to East London on Sunday and get revenge and also continue to build on our form in the league.
Our record in London isn’t great and the Hammers are in very good form. But they played in the week and we’ve had a week off so we definitely fancy our chances against Moyes’ men.
In other Leeds United news, this striker is on the verge of quitting his club amid interest from Elland Road.
