'Oh my God' – Ian Wright makes big Leeds claim ahead of clash v Arsenal

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that he’s worried about Leeds United going into the Premier League clash on Sunday after being blown away by them in the FA Cup game back in January.

He said he still remembers the game when – in Wrighty’s words – Leeds “gave us a chasing… Oh my God, it was a joy to watch.”

Wright also said that while he doesn’t want Leeds to beat Arsenal, he wants to see them do well in the Premier League.

Talking on the latest episode of his Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright said, “The thing is, you can’t not go into the game not being worried.

“I’ve watched Leeds… did you see when they played us in the FA Cup? They gave us a chasing, bro. Oh my god, it was a joy to watch what they did to my team. I was thinking ‘what’s going on?’

“The movement, everything they were doing, the confidence from back to front.

“Arteta has had a lot of time to think about this game but what he doesn’t have to think about is how Leeds will play.

“It’s a worry because of what happened previously.”

Leeds’ house

It’s brilliant as a Leeds fan to hear Wrighty talk about Leeds in this manner.

Newly promoted teams rarely striker fear into the hearts of established top-six teams like Arsenal.

But Wrighty is right to be worried. A weaker Leeds side ran Arsenal ragged in the FA Cup back in January.

That was their first real taste of what the Premier League was going to be like and it was a huge relief for Leeds fans.

In the end, the Leeds players couldn’t keep it up for 90 minutes and faded after a brilliant first half.

However, look at the game’s attack momentum graph from SofaScore.

Arsenal literally didn’t have a sniff in the first 45 minutes and it took a complete switch at half-time for Arsenal to come out narrow 1-0 winners.

Since then, we’ve added Rodrigo, who should be back for the Arsenal game. And the game is being played in Leeds’ house on Sunday.

If Kalvin Phillips is back, too, then we’re looking forward to more of the same swashbuckling football that Leeds showed at the Emirates at the start of the year.
