‘Not ideal’ – Scott Parker makes claim about Elland Road ahead of massive Leeds v Fulham clash
Fulham manager Scott Parker has said that the Leeds United fans are “superb” and that it’s “not ideal for anyone” that fans will be missing from the blockbuster game on Saturday.
Parker also said that teams “come no bigger” than Leeds and that he’ll prepare his players as best as he can for the massive top-of-the-table clash.
Talking to the official Fulham site Parker said, “There’s certain hostile atmospheres and environments that you can thrive off and Leeds is that place, the fans are superb up there so you can look at it both ways.
“You can look at it in that it could take the edge off them (Leeds), but at the same time you could look at it the other way that sometimes it’s those hostile environments that you want to go into and can make the difference.
“It’s not ideal for anyone.”
This is one thing we can agree with Scott Parker on.
The thought of Leeds playing Fulham at Elland Road without fans is heartbreaking.
The atmosphere would have been absolutely electric and, whatever Parker says, this definitely impacts Leeds more than it does Fulham.
Elland Road would have been sold out and the away fans would have been drowned out.
The game itself has taken on extra significance now after both sides lost their opening games last weekend.
If Fulham lose again they’ll effectively be out of the race for the top two. If they win then the Leeds nerves will really start to kick in.
The bookies have Leeds down as the big favourites – 8/11 compared to 4/1 for Fulham to spring a shock.
The draw is 3/1 and it means the bookies are convinced Leeds will claim the three points.
We hope they’re right.
