New Bamford injury blow rocks Leeds United – Early team news v Newcastle confirmed
Patrick Bamford has suffered yet another new injury blow and will not play for Leeds United versus Newcastle on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, as shown on Leeds’ official Twitter account, [20 January, 01:00pm], Bielsa revealed that after recovering from his muscle issues, the striker has been hit with a new injury to the bottom of his foot.
Junior Firpo and Adam Forshaw have also been ruled out of the clash with Newcastle at Elland Road.
“Forshaw and Firpo have muscular injuries. Bamford has a new injury at the bottom of his foot,” said Bielsa on Thursday afternoon.
“He’s overcome his muscular problems but now he’s got an issue at the bottom of his foot.”
Momentum
Leeds shocked the Premier League with their 3-2 win at West Ham on Sunday.
Bielsa’s men have now won two Premier League fixtures in a row and any fears of a relegation battle are slowly starting to dissipate.
For all those pundits who questioned Bielsa and suggested he could have been sacked after our poor start to the season, where have you been this week?

Even with two more injuries and young Premier League debutants spending large spells on the pitch, Leeds were able to beat fourth-placed West Ham on their own patch – while having a goal disallowed in the process.
As long as we don’t get any more long-term injuries and our current issues start to clear up, on top of one or two new signings, it should be a very positive second half of the campaign.
Newcastle are an ideal next opponent with frustration still high in the North-East due to their struggles in bids to sign new players.
Let’s take advantage of that and make it nine points from nine.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds have been told to pay over £6million to sign a “terrific” player who’s been tipped to move on.
