Neil Redfearn hails Pascal Struijk as Leeds United draw v Blackburn
Neil Redfearn was blown away by Pascal Struijk who found the back of the net for Leeds United against Blackburn Rovers.
The Dutch centre-back scored a penalty to make it 1-0 late on but Danny Batth equalised and the game at Elland Road ended 1-1 on 1 January.
Despite dominating possession and creating the majority of the chances, the Whites failed to pick up the three points on New Year’s Day.
Redfearn told BBC Radio Leeds on 1 January at 4:53pm: “Pascal Struijk is a leader at the back. That is what you need a great penalty stepped up when he was needed and he was calm.
“This will be a magnificent three points we will moan later but it doesn’t matter – it is three points!”
Leeds United fail to secure late win against Blackburn Rovers
Redfearn went a bit too early with his assessment as the Whites were humbled just a few minutes later.
They seemed to switch off and get carried away rather than focusing on the job at hand and sealing the three points.
It would’ve indeed been an important three points in the context of the promotion race, but these were two points dropped by the Whites.
Daniel Farke is a Championship veteran who has secured multiple promotions and he’ll know just how important this win would’ve been for his side.
Hopefully, this does not dampen spirits too much and the team comes back stronger in their next game which is against Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, 4 January.

The Tigers have been struggling in the league so it may be the ideal time for the Whites to visit them.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on signing a player Declan Rice called ‘Incredible’ in January.
