Neil Mellor predicts Leeds United clash v Wolves

Neil Mellor predicts Leeds United will return to winning ways when they take on Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa’s injury-hit side lost 1-0 at the hands of Southampton on Saturday in what was easily one of the worst performances during Marcelo Bielsa’s time in charge.

However, ex-Liverpool striker Mellor is now backing the Whites to return to winning ways against in-form Wolves.

Leeds United

“These are two teams in a contrasting run of form,” Sky Sports’ Mellor wrote on the Super 6 website.

“Leeds are hanging just above the relegation zone while Wolves have won their last three Premier League matches, coming from two goals behind to beat rivals Aston Villa 3-2 last weekend.

“Despite that, Leeds are yet to fire on all cylinders but this could be the turning point in front of a sold-out Elland Road.”

Please be right

We’re begging that Mellor’s prediction is right.

It doesn’t matter how we win, whether we play awful for 89 minutes and score a last-minute winner, we just need to see Leeds pick up three points.

It wasn’t that long ago when we beat Watford and while we have a number of injury issues in the side right now, it shows that these players can perform well enough to win games.

It’s going to be tough due to the issues regarding fitness and injuries, as well as the overall lack of form among certain players, but Wolves are beatable.

They’ll be on a high after coming from two goals down to win 3-2 away at Aston Villa last weekend.

However, in that game, we saw that Wolves can go two goals down and play quite badly for the majority of a game.

Villa capitulated last weekend and if we can grab a goal or two early on, we feel as though Leeds can show the defensive rigidness needed to see out a win as we could have Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk all on the pitch.

In other Leeds United news, a fifth player has been ruled out of the match at Elland Road.
