Junior Firpo also ruled out of Leeds United clash v Wolves

Junior Firpo has joined the list of Leeds United players who are unable to play against Wolves on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to the media on Thursday, had already confirmed that Luke Ayling, Robin Koch, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford will miss the Elland Road showdown with Wolves.

Later on in the press conference, it was also confirmed that left-back Firpo will miss the clash with Wolves on Saturday and the Carabao Cup trip to Arsenal on Tuesday before potentially being available to play versus Norwich next weekend.

“Firpo’s evolving quickly and well. I couldn’t tell you exactly he has long left but from Norwich onwards, he has chances of being back in the team.”

Another big blow

We really don’t need this.

Bielsa’s squad has been decimated by issues in the last few weeks and it’s really hampered our form at the start of this season.

Bielsa is a manager who relies on consistency but where’s the consistency when he has this many injury issues to contend with?

Firpo’s absence is going to mean that Stuart Dallas will have to play at left-back and while we have no issues with Dallas in that position, it weakens the midfield and further exposes the need to have signed a midfielder in the summer.

Why didn’t Bielsa and Victor Orta push more fiercely with that?

Yes, they wanted Conor Gallagher and couldn’t do anything about him choosing Crystal Palace over Leeds. But we refuse to believe that Lewis O’Brien was the only other option when a £30million deal for Daniel James was agreed on deadline day.

We love Bielsa and never want to see him leave. But he’s facing some big questions right now and they are questions that people have been asking for a couple of years.
