Marcelo Bielsa confirms Leeds United team news v Wolves
Kalvin Phillips will not play for Leeds United when they face Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed.
Robin Koch, Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford are still injured while Phillips has recovered from his injury but is lacking in match fitness.
As shown in a clip on Leeds’ official Twitter account on Thursday, Bielsa said: “Kalvin is healthy but he hasn’t competed for three weeks. If he played on Saturday it would be far too quick.
“After three weeks out it necessary for more football training. In this stage, he’s done training sessions for recovery and physical preparation and progressive work with the ball.
“I think to think of him for Saturday would be to bring him back too soon before he’s back at his complete best.”
Bielsa added: “Ayling and Bamford are not going to be here for the next two games. Raphinha’s back and Koch still has at least one month to go.”
Leeds have 30 more Premier League matches to play this season but our campaign is yet to really get off the ground.
While three points separate the Whites in 17th and Burnley in 18th and in the relegation zone, we don’t want to see that gap get any smaller this weekend.
Wolves are in good form but it’s about time Bielsa’s men step up their game and finally start to deliver on what was achieved last season.
It’s not easy and injuries and selection issues have caused major problems for Bielsa.
Leeds’ manager is a fan of consistency but he’s not really been afforded that luxury this season with injuries and issues in basically every position except for in goals.
Wolves are doing well with four wins in five Premier League games but we can beat them.
Let’s hope we do.
In other Leeds United news, Raphinha’s shared a one-word update that causes concern on Twitter and leads to Phil Hay replying.
