MOT View: Patrick Bamford in, Rodrigo axed - Predicted Leeds United starting XI v Brentford

Leeds United travel to Brentford on Sunday afternoon [22 May] knowing they may need all three points to stay in the Premier League next season.

Should Burnley avoid defeat against Aston Villa on Thursday [19 May], the Whites will need to better their result on the final day of the season.

Jesse Marsch will therefore have to make some very tough decisions in his starting line-up, and two players may be axed as they nervously wait to find out the system.

Illan Meslier will start in goal as usual, and ending the season with a clean sheet would be perfect for not only the side, but for him personally after a tough campaign.

There has been no word on the fitness of Robin Koch, so he should be fine to start despite being forced off with what looked like a back problem against Brighton.

Junior Firpo looked bright in patches, and he will start again with Diego Llorente and Liam Cooper looking like Marsch’s preferred partnership in the middle.

Pascal Struijk will be rewarded with a start after his huge goal against Brighton, but in a new role in midfield to tighten up that space – it will be needed with the likes of Christian Eriksen prowling.

Kalvin Phillips will, of course, partner Struijk in that holding midfield two, but he may be given more license to roam without Mateusz Klich in there – who will be on the bench ready to come on and make an impact.

Jack Harrison and Raphinha are our only two fit and available wingers, and pressure will be on their shoulders to create much more than they have in recent weeks.

Joe Gelhardt will keep his spot, with the wonderkid continuing to blow our minds, this time with that sensational piece of skill and assist for that huge equaliser.

The big call with be Rodrigo dropping to the bench after numerous shockers, with Patrick Bamford risked regardless of his injury status, this game is simply too big to ignore him.

Here’s how we expect the Whites to line-up…
