MOT View: Drameh ready for first-team bow after big PL 2 nomination

Leeds United Under-23s star Cody Drameh has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February.

Drameh is battling some of the players from the top division, with Man City, Everton and Man United starlets also nominated from Division 1.

Drameh has been a top performer all season for the Under-23s but had a particularly strong February, with Leeds winning four out of four games and Drameh helping to keep three clean sheets.

The news was posted on the Leeds United Twitter page on Monday with the first team prepping for the game against West Ham in the evening

The 19-year-old right-back has caught our eye while we’ve been watching Mark Jackson’s side this season.

He hasn’t made the bench yet for the first team but he surely must be on the cusp now and with Leeds perhaps one game from safety, we think it’s only a matter of time before he’s unleashed in the senior squad.

Bielsa has already got him in his sights.

Back in December, Leeds chief Angus Kinnear said that Bielsa was as excited about Drameh as he was about Rodrigo and Raphinha. [The Square Ball podcast]

That’s some commendation.

Rodrigo is a full Spain international and Raphinha has been blowing everyone away on the right-wing.

Back then Kinnear also said that Bielsa was looking at how to transition players like Drameh.

He also name-checked Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt and both of them have featured in first-team squads already.

We’re convinced that Drameh is going to be the next to make the big step up and we can’t wait to see what he can do for the first team.
