Leeds United centre-back Pascal Struijk is believed to be out injured for the game against West Ham tonight, according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross.
Struijk limped out of the last game against Aston Villa and hasn’t been listed as being in the Leeds squad for tonight.
Struijk has made 17 Premier League appearances for Leeds this season and started the last 12.
He has played at centre-back and also covered for Kalvin Phillips in the holding midfield position.
Cross wrote, “Adam Forshaw, Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk and Jamie Shackleton are the only members of the senior squad we have reason to believe won’t be involved tonight.”
Four steps forward, one step back
Will Marcelo Bielsa ever have a full Leeds squad to select from?
Incredibly, that hasn’t happened since Bielsa took over and Struijk looks to be the latest casualty.
He’s had a brilliant season and played far more than he probably thought he would.
That looks like being the only dark cloud on the Leeds horizon tonight, though.
Diego Llorente has already made a successful return from injury, and Rodrigo and Gaetano Berardi both came through Under-23s outings last week.
Kalvin Phillips was spotted travelling with the Leeds squad [All Leeds TV] and that’s a huge boost.
If Struijk is out then Phillips is likely to go straight back into the Leeds starting XI.
Losing Struijk is obviously a blow, but Leeds fans would definitely swap him for Llorente, Berardi, Rodrigo and Phillips.
We think the starting XI tonight will be: Meslier; Dallas, Cooper, Llorente, Ayling; Phillips; Harrison, Klich, Rodrigo, Raphinha; Bamford.
That’s a side that we think is more than capable of breaking the London curse tonight.
