‘We have to win this one’ – Leeds Super Fans predict starting XI v Preston

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road and Thorp Arch.

A draw against Cardiff that never should have been and a defeat to Fulham that never… you get the picture.

That’s the Championship though folks, and there will be many more twists and turns before the end of the season.

One thing is certain – great teams respond when the chips are down and Leeds are undoubtedly a great team under Marcelo Bielsa.

They’ve got the perfect opportunity to put things right on Boxing Day against Preston at Elland Road.

Preston are fifth in the Championship, nine points off Leeds. A win on Boxing Day would get the wheels back on the Bielsa bus ahead of the new year.

Leeds will have to do it without Pablo Hernandez, who was injured in the game against Fulham and will now miss a month of action.

Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton will be back for Birmingham on the 29th but will get to spend Boxing Day in front of the fire.

Adam Forshaw is still out and we’ve given up guessing when he’s going to be back.

So what’s the starting XI that Bielsa should put out on Boxing Day? That’s the question we asked our panel of Super Fans. This is what they said…

Adam Copley (@Adam_coppers98)

El Loco (@woodyoubelieve1)

Adam Ross (@rossi_on)

Luke (@LukeParsonsss)

Debbie (@DebbieH25261744)

Adam Elliott (@adam_elliott118)

It’s almost a clean sweep with Debbie the only dissenting voice. She wants to see Eddie Nketiah and Patrick Bamford reprise their double-up role from the second half of the Fulham game. She’d drop Helder Costa to the bench.

For everyone else, it’s the same as Fulham, with Gjanni Alioski replacing Pablo Hernandez.
