Mark Lawrenson predicts Leeds United clash v Crystal Palace

Mark Lawrenson predicts Leeds United to run out 2-1 winners against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Tuesday.

The Whites were comprehensively outplayed by Brighton over the weekend, but managed to come away from that game with a respectable draw.

However, Lawrenson expects their fortunes to change this gameweek and backs them to edge Patrick Vieira’s side.

He told BBC, “Leeds have only scored 12 goals in their first 13 games of this campaign, compared with 22 by the same stage of last season.

It might take until Patrick Bamford returns from his ankle injury to get the Leeds attack firing again but they are not on a bad run of results, having lost only one of their past five league games.

This is a tough one to call, because Crystal Palace have been playing well. I just have this feeling Leeds will burst into life soon, the way Leicester did against Watford at the weekend.

Need a win desperately

Leeds have had an underwhelming start to this season and can’t seem to find a win at the moment.

There have been plenty of injuries but the buck stops at Marcelo Bielsa and he’s clearly got to do better with this group of players.

A win against Palace would go a long way at solving some of the concerns as it would take them further away from the relegation zone.

However, he still has to address what Kalvin Phillips’ best position is and whether a 3-3-3-1 is sustainable for the longer term.

Hopefully, Luke Ayling is available for this one and if he is, we expect him to be benched and come off in the second half.

Palace have also started well and will be looking to continue their current so it’s going to be far from easy for Leeds.
