Many Leeds fans react to Tyler Roberts performance in return from injury v Wigan
Tyler Roberts made his return from injury for Leeds United on Saturday and it seems as though fans were impressed with what they saw.
Although Leeds’s 1-0 loss to Wigan at Elland Road saw them drop off the top spot in the Championship table, Roberts’ return to fitness was one of few positives for those who watched the match.
The 21-year-old came off the bench with 26 minutes to go and was the only substitute used by Marcelo Bielsa as he replaced Ezgjan Alioski.
According to stats by WhoScored, Roberts had 22 touches of the ball in less than half an hour on the pitch, which is not too bad considering striker Patrick Bamford managed 28 touches in 90 minutes.
Roberts also made 10 accurate passes – the same number as Bamford – and managed to fire one shot at goal.
Although the Wales international did not offer the impact that Bielsa was hoping for, Leeds did look a bit better with him on the pitch than they did before he was introduced.
We need Roberts to stay fit now because even when he joined Leeds from West Brom in January 2018, he was injured.
The attacking midfielder has played just 11 times in the Championship this season with just two of those appearances coming since late November.
Fans were happy with what they saw from Roberts, at least.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
How? He came on and looked sharp in a game where they defended with everyone. Plus just come from an injury?

Good to see your back in action yesterday but do us a favour and be a little bit more selfish and have a crack at goal when you get the chance, I can see you getting a few goals, go on fill your boots son

To be fair I thought Roberts made a difference when he cane on. At least he was positive and prepared to take a chance unlike the round in circles, predictable possession stuff.

When he came on Roberts was definitely our best player

Played quite well when he came on, just needs to start playing the ball to bamfords feet instead of always passing the ball to the wing but 🤷🏻♂️

Shackleton does Need Game time. I like Roberts too – think he can make difference. Agree on messlier. I think JKA will probably be on bench next game. Massive games coming up – think we’ll see a big performance on Saturday #lufc

He brought Roberts on and that made a difference yesterday. We were a post and a goal keeping error away from a win yesterday.
