Luke Ayling spotted on crutches ahead of Leeds United clash v Brentford
Leeds United will face Brentford in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday (22 May) where their survival is at stake.
The Whites defender Luke Ayling appears to have travelled with the team, and he was spotted walking on crutches on the pitch.
Ayling is expected to be out for two or four months after he underwent a knee surgery.
Hay wrote on Twitter: “Leeds arrived. Ayling on crutches after his knee operation.”
Leeds have had cruel luck with injuries this season, with Tyler Roberts, Junior Firpo, Patrick Bamford, Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas have all suffered serious injury setbacks.
Ayling is the latest one, but he was out on the pitch cheering his teammates.
The 30-year-old was sent off against Arsenal earlier this month. He has made 26 appearances this season, but doubts remains whether he would be fully fit for the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
On to the match, this is massive. Leeds need to win against Brentford and at the same time hope that Newcastle manage to pick up a win against Burnley.
The Whites have a poor goal difference which means even if both team manage a draw, Jesse Marsch’s side will get relegated to the Championship.
It’s good to see that Ayling has travelled with the team to provide them the moral support. Hopefully, the team can go on and pick up a win today.
