'Liability', 'Awful', 'Woeful' - Many Leeds fans tear one player to shreds at HT v Preston
Leeds United fans were less than impressed with Luke Ayling’s performance in the first half of their clash against Preston at Elland Road on Boxing Day.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were nowhere near their best in the opening 45 minutes as the visitors piled pressure on the host’s defence and forced plenty of errors from those in white.
One the players who has been singled out for his poor performance in the first half was 28-year-old Ayling, who definitely felt the pressure of Preston’s press.
Ayling gave the ball away cheaply on several occasions and never really stood up that well defensively when the away side’s attackers were running at him.
It would be a bit premature to take the former Bristol City right-back off at half time but we have seen in Bielsa’s first season and a half in charge at Elland Road that he is not shy to hook players at the break if they are underperforming.
Some Leeds fans on Twitter certainly believe that they have seen enough from Ayling after a sloppy first half by him.
