Leeds United v Crystal Palace player ratings: Dan James in another stinker
Leeds United shared the spoils against Crystal Palace as the two sides played out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on Monday night (April 25).
The hosts were arguably the better side on the night, but Jesse Marsch will happily take the point away from home ahead of a tricky run of fixtures.
It helped them somewhat in the relegation battle, but they’re still searching for that elusive win that can put them closer to the safe zone.

Here are our player ratings from the game:
Illan Meslier – 7
The Frenchman managed to keep a cleansheet despite a constant barrage of Palace attacks. Made seven decent saves as well including two back to back ones in the dying stages.
Luke Ayling – 5
Not the best of games from the Englishman who currently seems bang out of form. He did not do enough to link up with the attacking players and defensively he surely could have done better.
Diego Llorente – 6
Along with Liam Cooper, helped solidify the defence and ensured that the team looked structured without the ball. Not much to fault with his performance.
Liam Cooper – 8
Captain fantastic Cooper was the organiser and commander-in-chief throughout the game. Leeds failed to play the game on their own terms and it was his responsibility to keep his side focused. He was imperious in the air and did not lose a single duel.

Stuart Dallas – 7
Seldom does Dallas let the team down and he did not do that this time as well. Deputising for Junior Firpo, the Northern Irishman showed just why Marcelo Bielsa rated him so highly.
Mateusz Klich – 6
Not as involved as he would’ve liked to be but there was fairly little he could do about it. Patrick Vieira set his team up to force Leeds to play it wide instead of dominating in the middle.
Kalvin Phillips – 5
Still seems to have that bit of weariness and that’s down to the fact that it’s been months since he’s played the full 90 minutes. Was off with a few passes and his positioning was also suspect.
Raphinha – 4
Virtually anonymous for most of the game. Usually, when the chips are down, we’ve seen the Brazillian stepping up, but this certainly didn’t happen today.
Rodrigo – 4
Much like Raphinha, had very little to do in the final third as neither of the attackers seemed like they were reading from the same hymn sheet.
Jack Harrison – 6
The left foot of Harrison was more threatening than Raphinha’s today. He did give the Palace defence a few nightmares but unfortunately for the travelling fans, failed to have a decisive impact on the outcome of the game.

Dan James – 3
With each passing game, the decision to start him as a nine seems only more baffling. He does his bit when the opponents have the ball, but he definitely isn’t the answer to Leeds’ goal-scoring woes.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
