Leeds v Arsenal game set for primetime Sky Sports treatment on Wednesday night
Sky Sports are showing the classic Arsenal v Leeds United game from 2003 in its entirety on Wednesday night – the perfect way to get yourself in the mood for the Championship restart.
The thrilling game, the penultimate one in the 02/03 season, saw Leeds win 3-2 thanks to a late goal from Mark Viduka.
That confirmed that Leeds would say in the Premier League – for one more season, at least.
The game gets the primetime spot on Sky Sports Premier League HD, with the action kicking off at 8pm and running through until 10pm.
The game was an absolutely vital one in the Premier League.
Arsenal had to win to stay in the title race. Leeds needed a win to stay in the top-flight.
At the end of the game, all the celebration were in the visiting stand, although even Arsenal fans must have begrudgingly approved of the winner.
Viduka went past Oleg Luzhny and curled a brilliant shot into the far corner of the net.
It continued an incredible run from Viduka, who single-handedly saved Leeds that season.
It was his 13th goal in just nine games and he scored another in the final game of the season to make it 14 in 10 for Leeds.
It included a hat-trick against Charlton and braces against Middlesbrough, Spurs and Fulham.
Leeds ended the season in 15th place, with West Ham, West Brom and Sunderland going down.
Arsenal finished second, five points behind Man United. Confirming the title for United was the only shadow over this brilliant win.
