Leeds United team news: Starting line-up v Chelsea confirmed as Junior Firpo axed

Jesse Marsch has made four changes to the Leeds United starting line-up ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday night (11 May).

Ahead of kick-off, the Whites confirmed via their official Twitter account that Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk, Lewis Bate and Rodrigo are all starting.

Luke Ayling is suspended so he drops out while Marsch has also opted to axe £13million summer signing Junior Firpo, Mateusz Klich and Joe Gelhardt from the team that started at Arsenal in their last game.

Must-win

It’s not very often when you say that matches against teams like Chelsea are a must-win.

However, for Leeds, they’ll be properly in trouble if they fail to get three points out of this game.

While Leeds’ last two fixtures are far more winnable on paper against Brighton and Brentford, they’re also two teams who are in decent form and are able to turn over a good number of Premier League clubs on their day.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have won just one of their last five Premier League games with their season basically already over due to third place being secured a long time ago.

Sure, Chelsea can still drop out of the top four. But the chances of it are very, very low.

They’ll be favourites – but can they live with that tag?

Leeds are the underdogs but there’ll be more pressure on them.

It’s hard to call this call but either way, we know that Leeds need to win it because survival isn’t exactly in their hands right now.
