Leeds United defender Luke Ayling required treatment in Southampton clash

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling was down in the latter stages of the 1-1 draw against Southampton on Saturday (April 2).

The physios had to be called onto the field as there was a brief stoppage in the game.

Jesse Marsch felt the need to bring the Englishman off as he was replaced by Pascal Struijk in the 89th minute.

Noticing this incident at Elland Road, Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth wrote, “Livramento slices one badly at the back post. Saints had been kept quiet for a while but created real danger there.

“Ayling is down now, needs treatment.”

Phil Hay also spotted this and wrote, “Ayling down and calling for treatment.”

Blow

Just as Leeds looked to be getting their players back it seems like they’ve got another scare.

While Jesse Marsch alleviated any fears at full-time, it remains to be seen what the diagnosis suggests about Ayling.

Usually, he’s not one to call in for the physios unless there’s something seriously bothering him.

It remains to be seen what the diagnosis is in the coming days and whether Marsch was right about it, to begin with.

Hopefully, it is nothing severe and the Englishman will be ready to start the game against Watford.

He has been one of the regulars in the team this season and Marsch would not want him out with a spell on the sidelines.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
