Leeds United confirmed XI v Brentford: Patrick Bamford makes matchday squad

Patrick Bamford has returned to the matchday squad but has not been named in the Leeds United playing XI against Brentford.

Luke Ayling has also made a recovery from injury and has been named in the starting eleven for this one.

Marcelo Bielsa will be looking to register two wins on the bounce for the first time this season.

Kalvin Phillips continues to play in midfield and is not part of a back three as it seemed in the build-up to the game.

Junior Firpo is the other change for Leeds United.

Must win

Brentford are no pushovers as they have proven since the first game of the season, but this is a game Leeds cannot afford to lose.

They showed brilliance resolve against Crystal Palace and dug their heels in for an impressive victory against Patrick Vieira’s side.

Thomas Frank’s side offer a different challenge but Leeds will have to be at their best as he’s drilled his side to be extremely meticulous.

It’s good to see that Leeds are welcoming players back from injury and Bielsa should soon have his strongest possible squad to choose from.

Whether or not Bamford comes in remains to be seen, but ideally, he should be given a few minutes off the bench.

It will be interesting to see what shape Bielsa has set his side up in for this encounter.

Ivan Toney is the man to watch out for and it remains to be seen who’s charged with marking him out of the game.
