Leeds United confirmed starting XI v Elche as Jesse Marsch returns

Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI as they return to action on Thursday 8 December against Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Jesse Marsch has mainly picked his experienced players with Leo Hjelde getting his start at left-back with the likes of Junior Firpo out injured.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, the Whites have started Joel Robles and Joe Gelhardt, who has yet to start in the Premier League so far this season.

Test.

Marsch will know this is only the first test of this mid-season break, but it is critical with one eye already on the Premier League returning at the end of the month.

Before we know it, we will all be lining the streets around Elland Road not knowing what to expect as we prepare to take on the fearsome Manchester City.

With half of their squad still at the World Cup, Leeds on the other hand now have the majority of their squad available to feature in these games and get up to scratch together.

It may take some adjusting for Pep Guardiola and his squad if they haven’t played as a squad together for one month when they come to West Yorkshire.

Of course, we will want to win this evening, but the result won’t mean too much to Marsch compared to the performance ahead of further tests against Monaco and Real Sociedad.

In other Leeds United news, the club are close to agreeing a new contract with a senior first-team player
