Lee Hendrie winces at ‘Horrible’ Derby v Leeds United incident

Lee Hendrie reacted immediately on commentary after a clash between Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Pascal Struijk in the game between Derby and Leeds United.

In what is always a feisty affair between the two sides, it was Daniel Farke’s side who came out on top with a 1-0 win thanks to a Brenden Aaronson goal.

The atmosphere inside the stadium reflected how supporters felt about this game and the players lived up to the occasion too.

However, an accidental full-blooded coming together between Mendez-Laing and Struijk during the first half left Hendrie shocked as he said on Sky Sports commentary: “It’s just a real clash isn’t it?

“Straight in the midriff, that is horrible especially when you’re not expecting it.

“All eyes on the ball.”

Leeds United v Derby another good affair

It was a nasty clash between the opposing players in the first half although both luckily came away unscathed and were able to carry on in the game.

The incident was a reflection of how both sides get stuck into this fixture and were eager to come out with bragging rights over one another with the West Yorkshire outfit also on top in the last meeting at Elland Road with a 2-0 victory.

For once, there was no malice from either side in this one and rather, as Hendrie says, it was instead a case of both players with their eyes on the ball hoping to be the first to it.

In the end, Farke’s side were able to come out on top thanks to a late goal from Aaronson which will no doubt be a lot to the players and supporters are they return to the top of the Championship.

In other Leeds news, Farke’s side have been given a boost in their pursuit of one player ahead of the transfer window.
