Largie Ramazani update emerges for Leeds United clash v Preston

Largie Ramazani is unlikely to start as Leeds United take on Preston on Saturday afternoon, according to Beren Cross.

The LeedsLive journalist reported on 14 December that Daniel Farke is unlikely to consider the Belgian ready for the game at Deepdale on Saturday due to his lack of match fitness post his injury.

The 23-year-old has not started a game since mid October against Sheffield United and was an unused substitute against Middlesbrough in mid-week with the Whites winning 3-1.

Leeds United must not risk Largie Ramazani and potentially aggravate his injury

Given Ramazani’s recent injury and lack of match fitness, it makes strategic sense not to rush him back into full action for the match against Preston.

The Belgian has not played a full 90 minutes since 4 October, which means he has been out of regular competitive play for over two months.

His last start was against Sheffield United in mid-October and he was only an unused substitute in the recent match against Middlesbrough so it’s evident he’s not getting the minutes ideally needed.

This extended period away from the pitch suggests that his match sharpness and stamina might not be at the level required to start or play extensively.

If he is to feature in the game at Deepdale, it would be reasonable to expect him to play at most for a half, allowing him to gradually regain his match rhythm and reduce the risk of re-injury or a dip in performance quality.

While it may be viewed as a cautious approach, it’s better to go down this route for the player’s long-term well-being.

In other Leeds United news, a first-team ace is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes until the end of 2024 after what happened recently.
