Kalvin Phillips sends message to Leeds United fans after Southampton clash

Kalvin Phillips thanked the Leeds United fans after he came off the bench to make his debut under Jesse Marsch in the draw against Southampton.

The Whites shared the spoils with the Saints with the scoreline 1-1 at the full-time whistle.

The return of Phillips was what most fans at Elland Road could talk about and he’s taken to Twitter to share his gratitude.

He wrote, “119 days later!

“Thanks for all your support on the journey back, and the reception today. A point in the right direction.”

Splendid

Boy, did Leeds miss Phillips for the better part of this season.

Once he was brought on one could see how relaxed the players around him were.

They rely on him to deliver the goods and more often than not, he does not disappoint.

While Leeds may not have this game, they would’ve been happy that Phillips got some minutes under his belt.

They next take on Watford and there’s a very good chance that he starts that one.

Hopefully, Marsch deploys him correctly like Marcelo Bielsa and we will see a well-oiled machine until the end of the season.

It remains to be seen if he’s fit enough to start that game as Watford are fighting for their lives and it will be a combative contest.

The last thing Leeds would want is for Phillips to pick up another niggle as they cannot afford to lose him again.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
