Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praises 'absolutely magnificent' delivery from Jack Harrison for Rodrigo goal in Leeds United win v Chelsea

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink heaped praise on brilliant Leeds duo Jack Harrison and Rodrigo for their part in the second goal in the win over Chelsea on Sunday.

The Whites took the lead thanks to an absolute howler from Edouard Mendy which allowed Brenden Aaronson to tap into an empty net, before Rodrigo headed home from a Harrison free-kick minutes later.

While appearing on Sky Sports Super Sunday as a pundit, former Leeds striker Hasselbaink praised the “absolutely magnificent” cross from Harrison, while also singling out Rodrigo for his great movement which gave the goalkeeper no chance.

“Yeah it’s a great delivery,” he said. “The other thing is Gallagher, he needs to drop in a little bit but the movement of Rodrigo is so good.

“Brilliant delivery, brilliant header and Mendy has got no chance whatsoever.

“When you move, and we were talking about it before the game started, when you have movement and you come across people you always have a chance. And the delivery is absolutely magnificent and his header is absolutely great, and the keeper has no chance.”

Quality

There is a reason why Jesse Marsch has persisted with Rodrigo since arriving despite his struggles at Elland Road in recent years, and why the club are refusing to entertain interest from Newcastle in Harrison.

Both players have got unrivalled quality in the squad and have a work ethic that plays perfectly into the hands of the way the manager wants to play at Elland Road this season.

They’re quick, sharp, work hard off the ball and can produce moments of magic on a regular basis that can help the team earn points and win games.

The performance against Chelsea was sublime throughout the team but those two encapsulated everything about the game and each deserved their goal on the day in what was arguably the best performance the club have put in since returning to the Premier League.

If anyone knows about movement and scoring goals its Hasselbaink, so it’s fantastic praise and well earned plaudits for both players.
