Alan Shearer has said he loves the high energy and work rate of Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa and picked out Jack Harrison for special praise.
He also said that he thinks Leeds will finish in mid-table this season.
Shearer was talking in a special fan Q&A on The Athletic on Friday afternoon.
“I think they [Leeds] will finish in and around mid-table,” Shearer said.
“I love their high energy, I love how hard they work.
“Jack Harrison has impressed me hugely. Although Bamford has missed a few, he’s also scored a few. Kalvin Phillips has impressed me also.”
We’ll take mid-table
Leeds fans will still have nightmares about Shearer, who seemed to save his best for when he was playing us.
Most fans would take a mid-table finish, though, and it shows how good a manager Marcelo Bielsa is that he’s set to scale these heights with this group of players.
Jack Harrison has had a fantastic start to the season and the high point was the brilliant goal against Liverpool in the opening game of the campaign.
It’s great to see Patrick Bamford get name-checked, too, after taking so much criticism last season.
The ultimate aim for Leeds is to stay in the Premier League. That’s the only thing that’s essential this season – everything else is gravy.
It would also be great to avoid any stress of being remotely in touch with the bottom three. So far, so good.
