Sky Sports pundit Darren Bent has said that Pablo Hernandez is the key to success for Leeds United in the Premier League.

Hernandez has only made one Premier League start this season after picking up an injury in the opening game against Liverpool.

He came on as a substitute last night but couldn’t conjure an equaliser for his side.

However, Bent thinks that he’s the player that can unlock sides like Wolves who are happy to sit back against Leeds.

Talking on The Football Show (Sky Sports, Tuesday, 10am) Bent said, “That’s where Hernandez is so important.

“There aren’t many teams in the Premier League that can match Leeds for running.

“There will be teams like Wolves last night who know they can’t go toe-to-toe with Leeds and match their intensity. That’s where they’ll sit in and defend.

“That’s where Hernandez is so important. He sits in those little pockets, he’s got that X-factor, something a bit different and he can always do something magical.”

El Mago

Hernandez was always going to struggle to play 90 minutes week-in, week-out this season.

He made a huge impact from the bench after lockdown and with Rodrigo starting to settle into the number 10 spot, Hernandez could be used as an impact sub again this season.

he looked good last night but only had 15 minutes to make a difference and we would have brought him on earlier against Wolves.

Bent is right when he says that Hernandez can do something magical at any moment – he proved that with the wonder goal against Swansea that convinced most fans that Leeds were promoted.

Back to last night and Nuno got his Wolves tactics spot on last night, soaking up some pretty intense Leeds pressure in the first half before dominating the second 45.

The goal might have been lucky but you won’t find many fans who begrudged Wolves the win last night.

We hope Aston Villa will choose to attack on Friday night, buoyed by their own fantastic start to the season.

They scored seven against Liverpool and could be happy to go toe-to-toe with Leeds. if they do, we can only see one winner.
