Danny Murphy predicts who will win Championship after Leeds fixtures announced

Danny Murphy has predicted this will be the year that Leeds United finally secure promotion, after the remaining 108 Championship fixtures were announced.

However, he thinks that West Brom will go on to win the title.

Leeds kick off their belated promotion charge on Sunday week when they visit Cardiff for a midday kick-off.

The huge game against Fulham gets a 3pm Saturday slot the following week. Both games will be on Sky Sports.

Reacting to the fixtures on the White & Sawyer Show (talkSPORT, Monday, midday), Murphy said, “It gives Fulham a great chance to come out with all guns blazing.

“But you just get the feeling that it’s Leeds’ year for promotion after what happened last time.

“West Brom have all the experience. If I was going to say out of the three I’d say West Brom for sure.

“I would like to play first, put a marker down and put some pressure on. But we will see some unusual results. You know, like you get at the start of the season.”

Murphy is right – wins for Fulham and West Brom on the Saturday would put the pressure on Leeds. However, it would also take it off if both lose.

We’re glad Leeds aren’t first out of the gates. No one knows how games will play out after over three months out and we’d much rather observe others play before taking to the pitch.

The three critical games for us are Luton, Blackburn and Stoke. If we can beat Cardiff, draw with Fulham, and then record three wins against these sides, we think promotion will be as good as done.

We’ve already beaten all three sides and will be the big favourites to take all the points.

However, Luton are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the league and, as Murphy said, this will be the time for strange results.

Hopefully, Leeds don’t get many of them and if we do get promoted, we don’t care who wins the league.

One thing is certain, by July 22 the agony of this season will be over and we will know for sure whether Bielsa has done what so many other managers has failed to do over the years. Fingers crossed.
