Gary Neville loves what he kept seeing Leeds star do vs Chelsea: ‘Brilliant’
Gary Neville couldn’t get enough of Jaka Bijol’s goal and attacking prowess against Chelsea.
Leeds faced Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday and three points were crucial in the Whites’ aspirations of staying up.
It has been suggested that Daniel Farke could be sacked by Leeds if the Peacocks were to lose their next two games, making a win against the Blues seem crucial.
Bijol opened the scoring for Leeds in the sixth minute, and Neville was impressed by the centre-back’s “brilliant” performance.

Gary Neville loved Jaka Bijol’s aerial dominance vs Chelsea
Bijol has struggled for game time at Leeds in the early stages of the season, but the Slovenian repaid Farke’s trust with a goal that put Leeds ahead at a vital time in the clash.
The Whites were piling the pressure on Chelsea in the first few minutes, and after coming close to scoring from multiple throw-ins, Bijol got his goal from a corner.
- Bijol scored his first-ever goal for Leeds against Chelsea
- He scored twice for Udinese last season
- The goal came after an Anton Stach corner
Anton Stach’s corner fell straight on the head of Bijol, who got himself in front of Trevoh Chalobah to power past Robert Sanchez in goal.
While commentating on Sky Sports Premier League, Neville highlighted exactly why Bijol’s goal was coming, despite only a few minutes of the game having been played.
Neville said: “Well, he’s already done it on two throw-ins, Bijol. He’s made great runs, really direct, fast runs. He gets right in front of Chalobah. It’s a brilliant run; Leeds have been brilliant. Keeper had no chance.”

Now, everyone from a Leeds perspective will be hoping that the defender can kick on, and continue to improve.

Bijol has left an impression on Daniel Farke
It was never going to be easy for Bijol to break into Leeds’ backline straight away, considering how solid it was in the Championship last campaign.
However, the 6,3″ Serbian must have impressed Farke at Thorp Arch to have been given this recent run of games in the side.
Leeds are a threat from set-pieces and have been trying to make the most of the opportunities to score from them.
It seems like Bijol is another weapon for the Whites, and it would be hard to see the defender dropped in teamsheets from here on out.
