Gary Lineker shares instant reaction as Leeds United secure Premier League safety on final day

Gary Lineker has shared his instant reaction to Leeds United securing Premier League status with a huge win over Brentford on Sunday evening.

The Whites won 2-1 at Brentford, and Burnley crashed to defeat against Newcastle at Turf Moor to send West Yorkshire into pandemonium.

Lineker was amazed after Jack Harrison scored in added time to secure those three points, and the celebrations on the pitch after were incedible.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on the full-time whistle, Lineker was stunned by the Whites after the huge achievement on Sunday evening.

“A last-minute winner for Leeds United and they survive,” he wrote.

“Well played.”

Huge.

Wow, what a day.

It was done in the Leeds way in the end with the nerves enormous.

When Brentford equalised and Burnley pulled one back against Newcastle, our hearts dropped and we were all expecting them to go on and score again.

That would have been our luck, but that second goal and the full-time whistle going at Turf Moor was something that sparked a feeling out of this world.

Now it is time to kick on, and push to next season.

Andrea Radrizzani cannot rest on his laurels and has to spend big money to transform this club alongside the 49ers, and we expect that to happen.

Bring it on.
