‘It’s so exciting’ – Sky pundit states what Leeds are going to do as soon as Ch’ship restarts
Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock believes that Leeds United are going to “overpower” teams from the off when their Championship campaign restarts on Sunday.
Leeds kick off their delayed bid for promotion against Cardiff and will be looking to pick up where they left off – on a run of five wins without conceding.
Warnock thinks they will do just that and added, “they’ll be too strong for teams”.
Talking on The Football Show (Sky Sports, Monday, 11am) Warnock said, “The break’s done Leeds the world of good.
“They always blow up, run out of gas and suffer because of this high intensity pressing football they play.
“They’ve had time to recuperate now, they’ve had a strong mini-pre season as it were.
“I think they’ll overpower teams, I think they’ll be too strong for teams.
“Looking at the league table it’s so exciting, it’s brilliant. It’s such an exciting end to the season.”
Apart from that tired old trope of running out of gas, Warnock has said what every Leeds fan wants to hear ahead of the restart.
A fast start is absolutely essential with two tricky games ahead of Leeds. Third-placed Fulham are up second and Leeds won’t want to be going into that match with just a four-point lead.
We’re with Warnock. All the signs are that the preparation for the Leeds players has been second-to-none.
Players look sharp and are all saying they’re raring to go. Jack Harrison looks like a beast and Kalvin Phillips has said he feels stronger than before lockdown.
There are no signs of nerves – although fans will have plenty to go round ahead of the midday kick-off on Sunday in Wales.
Much has been made of the way that Leeds start seasons and if Marcelo Bielsa can get them fired up the way they were against Bristol City in the opening game of the 19/20 campaign, we think they’ll blow Cardiff away.
We’re going for a 2-0 win. Bamford to score first.
