EFL club owner predicts Championship top three as Leeds set to restart promotion bid
Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has said that he’s going to watch the Championship run-in and he’s made a prediction that Leeds United fans will love.
He thinks that Leeds, West Brom and Brentford will be the teams to go up.
That means current third-placed side Fulham would miss out in the play-offs.
MacAnthony’s side missed out on the play-offs in League One after that was decided on a points-per-game basis despite being on the same number of points as third-placed Wycombe.
He has said he can’t bear to watch those play-offs now but would watch the Premier League and Championship run-ins.
MacAnthony was one of the big losers in the lower leagues, as they curtailed and voted to finish on points-per-game.
We’ve got sympathy for him and for Tranmere, who were the form team in League One but were relegated by the vote.
However, we’re also thankful that the Championship will get the chance to settle things on the pitch, and give Leeds the chance to escape one of the toughest leagues in Europe.
Brentford play Fulham in the first Championship game back and Leeds fans would take an away win, with the visitors currently 11 points behind the Whites.
That would leave Fulham seven points, and possibly 10, behind Leeds on Sunday with just eight games to go.
Fulham have a really tough run-in, with Leeds up at Elland Road after the Brentford clash.
