Dominic Calvert-Lewin history maker as 5/10 fails to stake claim – Leeds player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Leeds secured a massive three points in a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday night.

Leeds secured a point in a 1-1 draw against Brentford last time out, leaving them unbeaten in their last three Premier League games.

A home clash against Crystal Palace gave the Whites a perfect opportunity to continue that form, and 38 minutes into the clash, Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave Leeds the lead with an instinctive finish from close range.

Just minutes later, the Premier League’s most in-form striker doubled Leeds’ advantage, this time from a header which proved to be too powerful for Dean Henderson to save.

To make sure of all three points, Ethan Ampadu added a third and Anton Stach a fourth in the second half, with a Palace consolation goal from the spot.

Calvert-Lewin makes history for Leeds

Calvert-Lewin has been in blistering hot form for Leeds recently, and his goal against Crystal Palace makes it five goals in his last five games.

That saw the Englishman make history at Elland Road, becoming the first Leeds player to score in five consecutive games since Mark Viduka achieved the feat back in 2003.

Leeds perhaps didn’t get him as involved in the general game as they would have liked, but he provided the goods once again, and he really is proving untouchable at the moment.

If this form continues, Thomas Tuchel simply cannot ignore Calvert-Lewin for England; his turnaround has been quite remarkable.

Daniel Farke must stop Brenden Aaronson favouritism

Ao Tanaka has been immense when given the chance for Leeds this season, but, to the surprise of everyone at Elland Road, he was dropped for Brenden Aaronson against Palace.

While he didn’t do too much wrong, the USMNT international also didn’t do a lot right, which is a statement that could be used for most of his performances so far this season.

Aaronson was at times guilty of overplaying and generally lacked the ability to offer anything in the midfield, whether that be going forward or defensively.

Tanaka is by far the superior player, and Farke needs to release that as a matter of urgency.
