Phil Hay shares Daniel Farke update on Luis Sinisterra at Leeds United
Daniel Farke will wait for the right moment before discussing the future of Luis Sinisterra after the winger was missing for Leeds United in their defeat at Birmingham City.
Sinisterra was not included as part of Leeds’ matchday squad for Saturday’s [12 August] showdown at St Andrew’s, which Birmingham edged 1-0 through Lukas Jutkiewicz’s 91st-minute penalty.
While the omission of Wilfried Gnonto was already known prior to the game, Sinisterra’s absence was considered a blow for United given the Colombia international had played in their first two games.
Amid speculation that the 24-year-old could depart Elland Road prior to the end of the summer transfer window, Phil Hay shared what Farke said about the matter.
“He was not available,” he said.
“There will be a time when we talk about this situation. I don’t explain more.”
Uncertainty
Sinisterra has been nursing a knee injury, but Farke’s response to the question posed to him after the Birmingham game suggests the attacker’s absence was down to something else. After all, why wouldn’t he just explain it was injury related?
The Colombian was introduced from the substitutes’ bench for the final six minutes of the midweek EFL Cup win against Shrewsbury Town, having played a full part in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff City last weekend, but he was nowhere to be seen in the West Midlands.
Leeds fans will surely now worry that another player is angling for a move away from Elland Road, with Gnonto playing no part against Birmingham after making himself unavailable for selection.

Whereas interest in Gnonto has been made clear, with Everton making him their top target [TEAMtalk], it is less obvious where Sinisterra could end up should he leave Leeds.
Either way, Farke will be eager for the situation – assuming it is transfer related – to be cleared up sooner rather than later, as United have three more games to play prior to the window closing on September 1.
After collecting just one point from the first six on offer following their relegation to the Championship, Leeds’ need for another new player could grow even stronger in the coming days.
In other Leeds United news, supporters wasted little time in letting their feelings towards Gnonto known at St Andrew’s.
