Phil Hay has shared that Luis Sinisterra has a release clause in his contract as he misses the Leeds United clash with Birmingham on Saturday 12 August.

Rumours started swirling overnight that the Colombian was missing the game alongside Wilfried Gnonto, who refused to play, and that came true when the team news was released.

Hay admitted that the squad available to Daniel Farke was incredibly thin, with only eight players on the bench and two of them being goalkeepers at St Andrew's.

Hay wrote in the pre-match Q&A for The Athletic: "Well, there's no Gnonto but there's no Luis Sinisterra either.

"A lot of rumours about him before the game and no explanation yet for why he's absent. He has a release clause so we'll ask the question ASAP."

Shocking.

Farke said it best in his press conference, if players want a release clause or exit clause in their contracts when signing, it is best to leave them alone.

It isn't confirmed if this is transfer related yet though, with the German confirming in midweek that the South American was dealing with a knee injury.

Gnonto has spit his dummy out already, but to be fair to Sinisterra, he has not done that yet, and even came on against Shrewsbury with that knock.

It may be that risking him for no reason in the week has aggravated the problem, and we are set for yet another injury problem to add to the huge list.

Whatever the reason, it only proves the desperate need for Leeds to jump into the transfer window again this week for more than one move.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but this is yet more bad news whichever way you look at it.
