Daniel Farke was left hurt after his Leeds United side collapsed to a draw against Hull on Saturday, Mark Wilson has said.

The talkSPORT reporter posted on X (4 January) after the 3-3 draw at the MKM Stadium, saying that he'd never seen the Whites boss so disappointed post-match.

Farke had been quizzed on Illan Meslier being dropped for the next match after he made costly errors for all of Hull's goals, and the German's response left Wilson taken aback given his usual approach.

Wilson said: "Have to say I’ve never seen Daniel so disappointed.

"He’s pretty level-headed post-match, but today has hurt him."

Leeds United provide more questions than answers v Hull City

During their march to the top of the Championship table – where they still sit a point above Burnley having secured a point in East Yorkshire – the Whites have rarely dropped points from winning positions.

Although an early strike from Hull, in which Meslier was caught in no man's land, meant they didn't take the lead straight away, Ao Tanaka, Dan James and Joel Piroe's goals looked to have sealed the points.

Meslier's sheer lack of command in his box led directly to the hosts scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to steal a point, and the 24-year-old's position between the sticks is fast becoming untenable.

It's far from the most high-profile of errors the Frenchman has made this season – the Stadium of Light's howler really takes the cake there – as more and more teams identify him as Leeds' weak link.

The January transfer window gives United the perfect opportunity to bring in an upgrade on their haphazard number one, but the final judgement on Meslier's future will come from Farke only.
