Crysencio Summerville out injured, Patrick Bamford on the bench - Confirmed Leeds United XI v Aston Villa

Leeds have made eight changes to their starting lineup for the Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park, the club have confirmed.

Illan Meslier, Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Robin Koch, Marc Roca, Tyler Adams, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo all return to the team that drew 2-2 with Cardiff City in the FA Cup last time out.

Crysencio Summerville misses out through injury, but Patrick Bamford returns to the substitutes bench after recovering from a groin problem and could make his first appearance since before the World Cup.

Youngster Sonny Perkins is also on the bench after his late equaliser in that game with Cardiff, while Joe Gelhardt is among the substitutes despite speculation linking him with a loan exit.

Must win

This fixture is a must-win game for Leeds if they’re serious about moving away from a relegation battle and pushing up the table.

The Whites are currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table ahead of kick-off, but they sit just two points above the drop zone and could find themselves in trouble if results go against them.

Marsch has found himself winless in six games, with three consecutive losses followed up by three consecutive draws including the disastrous FA Cup clash with Cardiff most recently.

But Aston Villa’s form isn’t the best either, after they lose to Stevenage in the FA Cup in their last game and Leeds should feel as though they can claim a victory here.

With their intense style of play, pace in attack and energy in midfield they must know that they are a good performance away from a victory and with all of the bottom four playing each other in this game week, it’s a huge chance to create some separation.
