'Class', 'Having a mare' - These Leeds & Scotland fans react to Liam Cooper v Slovakia
Leeds United defender Liam Cooper and Scotland usually don’t go well together.
The Whites skipper has returned from international duty twice this season with injuries, and after he named in the side to face Slovakia on Sunday, fans were left biting their nails.
Cooper came through unscathed, although the Scots ended up losing in their Nations League clash by a single long-range goal.
It was a tough clash, and Cooper was in the thick of it – making a number of big tackles.
The 29-year-old brought his passing skill into a game that was dominated by the long ball, and his 74 passes were the most by any single player on the pitch [WhoScored].
As well as that, the Leeds skipper made four tackles, also the most out of anybody, as he really staked a claim to nail down a spot in the back three.
Marcelo Bielsa has transformed Cooper, and finally, Steve Clarke is starting to reap the rewards of that on the international stage.
Cooper has always divided opinion, unfortunately, and it appears that despite a positive outing, it has happened again.
Many fans, Leeds and Scotland have reacted to his performance, and the majority did shower him in praise against the Slovakians.
Some did pick out some small mistakes, with one potentially going too far and suggesting that he had a “mare” – far from it.
MOT Leeds News have picked out some of the best reactions below…
