Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt left at home again ahead of Leeds United clash v Huddersfield
Leeds United have not included Charlie Cresswell and Joe Gelhardt in their match-day squad for the clash with Huddersfield on Saturday, according to Beren Cross.
The Whites take on Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime (28 October) and are looking to bounce back after a 1-0 loss to Stoke in midweek.
The manager had hinted at rotation to his squad due to the short turnaround between games in the last seven days, but there is still no space for young duo Gelhardt and Cresswell as he has gone with the same squad for the fixture.
“Looks like the same 20-man squad as the last two games today,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (28 October).
Poor
Farke has made a big song and dance in recent weeks about the strength in depth that the squad at Leeds United has this season, but he seems reluctant to really use it.
Defensively the team is without Djed Spence, Stuart Dallas and Junior Firpo already, but there still seems to be no place for Cresswell to make any appearances.
In attack Wilfried Gnonto has just recovered from injury while Crysencio Summerville has been playing with painkillers and shoulder strapping, yet Gelhardt can’t even make the bench.
What’s the point in keeping these players at the club if we’re not going to even have them on the bench? We’d surely be better off selling them on to make money or loaning them out to develop elsewhere if we think they have a long-term future at the club.
Farke is running the risk of having unhappy players in the dressing room if he continues this and as we edge closer to January, exit talk is surely only going to ramp up from the outside too.
