Ben Parker heaps praise on Leeds ace who looked ‘Really sharp’ in Fulham defeat
It finally happened on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa decided to partner Patrick Bamford with Eddie Nketiah for one of the first times at Leeds United.
That decision had nearly an instant impact in the 2-1 defeat against Fulham, as Nketiah found space and saw an effort saved, only for Bamford to tap home the equaliser at Craven Cottage.
Leeds were forced to reshuffle in London, with Pablo Hernandez going off injured and Helder Costa not enjoying his best outing since joining the club.
Ben Parker was very impressed with Nketiah after he came on in the 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage, claiming he looked very sharp.
“We saw that he had an impact at Fulham when he came on,” he said on LUTV.
“His shot got saved, Patrick Bamford got the rebound and I have to say, he looked really sharp and he did this particular night” (last clash against Preston).
Nketiah certainly impressed and would have made a point to Bielsa that he can still have a massive impact at Elland Road this season.
Although they may have worked well together in an attacking sense, it has to be said that it did leave Leeds’ midfield wide open at times for Fulham to exploit – something they eventually did.
It proved that it can work for periods in games, but it would be wrong of Bielsa to continue with that system as it could ultimately be the downfall of the Whites this season.
